Trump lashes out at Israel and Iran amid accusations of ceasefire violations

President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire yesterday, hours after Iran launched a strike against a U.S. air base in Qatar in retaliation for the U.S. bombing of its nuclear sites.

CEASEFIRE VIOLATIONS: President Donald Trump said that he is “not happy” that Israel fired fresh rockets at Iran, adding that he is also displeased with Iran. He said today that he believed both sides violated the ceasefire, adding in a post on social media afterward that the truce remains in effect.


IRAN RESPONSE: Trump announced the ceasefire hours after Iran launched a strike against Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which stations thousands of U.S. troops, in retaliation for the U.S. bombing of three nuclear sites over the weekend.

AVOIDING ESCALATION: Iran’s limited response to the U.S. operation caused no casualties. Trump called it “very weak,” and it appeared designed to avoid triggering a massive escalation with the United States, experts and former officials said.
