Dr. Henry Louis Taylor, Jr.’s research focuses on a historical and contemporary analysis of distressed urban neighborhoods, social isolation, and race and class issues among people of color, especially African Americans and Latinos.
He is the founding director of the University at Buffalo’s Center for Urban Studies, which seeks solutions to the various problems facing metropolitan regions and central cities (including shrinking cities). The Center conducts basic and action-based research on community and economic development, focusing on the needs and issues of traditionally marginalized groups, including blacks, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans, women and low-wage workers.
