The Tuesday Night Election: A Road Bump for the Authoritarian Movement
The Tuesday night election was a road bump for the U.S. Authoritarian Movement.

In New York City, Virginia, New Jersey, California, Buffalo, and beyond, people carried the defiance of the street marches and rebellions to the ballot box. The progressive axis for social change—Blacks, immigrants, and progressive Whites—delivered this victory.
This voter rebellion was fueled both by resistance to the authoritarian movement and deepening economic hardship. The neoliberal, globalized capitalist project is failing, and that failure is creating economic pain in this country and throughout the world.
This voter rebellion was fueled both by resistance to the authoritarian movement and deepening economic hardship. The neoliberal, globalized capitalist project is failing, and that failure is creating economic pain in this country and throughout the world.
That capitalist project promised prosperity and happiness by freeing markets, deregulation, privatizing public goods, cutting social spending, dismantling the social safety net, and shrinking the size of government—“turn the capitalist loose” and “Let them do their profit-making thing,” creating jobs and opportunities for all?
The result was predictable — the capitalist grew richer, while ordinary people suffered. Increasingly, more people struggle to earn a living in the gig economy.
Donald Trump’s economic strategy was always a mirage.
His authoritarian and hateful rhetoric masked an agenda designed to protect corporate power, not ease the burden on workers, farmers, small business owners, and white-collar employees.
People heard the arrogant speeches and the big, beautiful promises — but their hardships persisted.
This election was a voter rebellion—a direct rejection of Trumpism’s false economics and authoritarian politics. Yet the people are still searching for real answers. We still have a long way to go before defeating this movement. This electoral victory is only the first phase.
The real challenge now shifts from protest to governance. Those newly elected—especially mayors—must deliver. They must lead with bold, people-centered policies that break decisively from the neoliberal capitalist playbook. In New York City, Zohran Mamdani is pointing the way forward—experimenting with new governing models that prioritize people’s needs over profits, collective welfare over private gain.
The quest to put people over profits will not be easy. To succeed, we must organize at every level—fighting bureaucratic inertia, confronting entrenched interests, and creating new systems of public finance and accountability. This governing effort is not just about policy reform; it is about transforming how government sees and serves its people.
The world has changed, and there is no going back. The old politics—of prioritizing profits over people and allowing government to serve private interests while ignoring public needs—must be abolished.
The authoritarians will fight back. So we must consolidate and strengthen the progressive axis. This fight is to defeat racism, sexism, and class exploitation while building economic stability, dignity, and a higher quality of life for all—a just society where joy is normalized.
Most importantly, we must resist the liberal fantasy of returning to a world that never truly existed, and reject the illusion of fighting to unify a mythical “middle ground” America.
There is no turning back. Let us boldly march into the future.
